It’s almost here… February 14th, Valentine’s Day! If you are looking for a great restaurant in the Melbourne, FL area at which to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your special someone, I’ve put together a list of some of my favorites. Of course, I have more favorites than just these, but the following restaurants are my top picks for “Valentine’s Day-worthy”, meaning either cozy, intimate, or just top-notch amazing food!
Melbourne, FL restaurants:
Chart House Restaurant – You can never go wrong at Chart House. Located directly on the Indian River, the views are spectacular, especially during sunset. On top of the fabulous views, the service is always wonderful, and the menu is a solid offering of fresh seafood, steaks, decadent desserts, and tasty cocktails. Yellow Dog Cafe – Breathtaking views from this waterfront restaurant with great service and exceptional food. The menu includes a large selection of local seafood, as well as lamb, duck, steak, chicken, etc. The back patio/deck/outdoor bar is a perfect spot to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. You can dine indoors or outdoors, both provide wonderful water views. Entrees start at around $20.yellowdogcafe.com
Bonefish Willy’s – Casual riverfront seafood restaurant with tons of outdoor seating and outdoor tiki bar, and oftentimes, live music. The fresh seafood specials are always great, the coconut shrimp is delicious, and the Willy Was a Fisherman salad is chock full of seafood and one of my favs. I would only suggest Bonefish Willy’s if you plan on dining outside; the inside dining area is a bit dark and does not offer any views. Historic Downtown Melbourne restaurants:
Matt’s Casbah – Prime downtown Melbourne location, this bar/restaurant is offering a special Valentine’s Day dinner, the Heart and Soul dinner, which includes a salad, hand cut filet, and caribbean lobster tail for just $30 for one person, or $50 for two people. They are also offering a 4-course Sushi Dinner for Two which includes saki for $60. Their regular menu is extensive, offering everything from seafood, pork and beef, to ostrich, duck and sushi. Continental Flambe – Another favorite downtown Melbourne restaurant, Continental Flambe is offering a special Valentine’s Day menu of a 4-course prixe-fix menu, including a glass of champagne, for $35. Continental Flambe has an extensive wine list and offers a quiet, romantic setting in which to enjoy a special date-night dinner. Wonderful French/European-inspired cuisine and attentive service. Beachside – Melbourne Beach, Indialantic restaurants:
Cafe Coconut Cove - Situated in south Melbourne Beach, directly on the Indian River, this quaint, cozy restaurant has killer views and fabulous food. Cafe Coconut Cove is a converted house just off A1A about one mile past Publix and it is very easy to miss, but watch for the blue “Cafe” sign and turn right. The restaurant is famous for its authentic German food, but it is also known for its many types of perfectly cooked and seasoned steaks. German beers are on tap and the restaurant makes its own desserts. Entrees start at $14.www.cafecoconutcove.com
Djon’s Steak and Lobster House – Located on Ocean Ave in Melbourne Beach, Djon’s has a wonderful selection of steaks, fresh seafood, lamb, and veal in a perfectly romantic atmosphere. Djon’s is also home to a piano bar, where you can hear live music every night of the week starting at 7pm. Djon’s is located just across the street from the river, so it does not have waterfront dining, but you can enjoy the river views from their outside second floor deck. The entrees are pricey, but every meal I have ever had a Djon’s has been outstanding. Entrees start at around $25. djons.com
Scott’s on Fifth - Another beachside favorite, Scott’s on Fifth is located on Fifth Ave in Indialantic. This is another “easy to miss” place; it is a very small “storefront” restaurant, albeit with amazing food and impeccable service. The menu at Scott’s on Fifth is not extensive (however the wine list is very extensive), but everything on it is exceptional, and entrees include a cup of soup or salad. The crab bisque appetizer is famous, and the nightly specials are always fresh, creative, and a “must try”. Entrees start around $25.www.scottsonfifth.com
Haru – If your Valentine’s Day date is craving sushi, I highly recommend Haru on A1A in Indialantic. I just love the modern, relaxed atmosphere of this upscale sushi bar, and the full menu of Japanese cuisine and sushi rolls will not disappoint. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, and the prices are reasonable, the wine and saki selection is adequate, and the service is friendly and attentive. Viera, FL restaurants:
The Melting Pot – Since I live in Melbourne Beach, I don’t often venture out to Viera restaurants, but I couldn’t help adding The Melting Pot to my list just because it is such a fun place to eat – more of a dining event than just a meal. If you have never been to The Melting Pot (it is a chain), you should definitely give it a go. It is a fondue restaurant, where you can dip your appetizer, main course, and dessert into different sauces, broths, chocolates, and more. Everyone will love it – kids, seniors, your spouse, a group of friends, your first date, etc. For Valentine’s Day, The Melting Pot is offering three different Valentine’s Day specials, with prices from $90 per couple to $300 per couple. You will not be disappointed with your meal at The Melting Pot, but I must warn you, pace yourself, because it is very easy to overdo it with all the amazingly delicious offerings. Private tables make The Melting Pot a perfect, romantic Valentine’s Day dining location. Entrees start at $18. www.meltingpot.com/melbourne/welcome
Cocoa Beach, FL restaurants:
The Fat Snook – Again, because I live in Melbourne Beach, I don’t often visit restaurants in Cocoa Beach, but The Fat Snook on A1A in Cocoa Beach is worth the trip. The food is upscale and tasty, with interesting ingredients and a bit of a caribbean-influence. The Fat Snook offers a nice selection of local seafood prepared creatively, as well as duck, chicken, pork, steak and more. This restaurant is tiny, so it feels intimate and cozy, and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Perfect restaurant for a special-occasion type of night.
