HOLIDAY BLUES! I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS ANYMORE. I KNOW IT USED TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES OF YEAR BUT IT STARTS TOO SOON AND LASTS TOO LONG. ONCE THANKGIVING HITS, IT'S LIKE LIFE AS WE KNOW IT COMES TO A STOP FOR THE NEXT 40 DAYS OR SO. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I ENJOY THE DECORATIONS AND THE FESTIVITIES, BUT DOES IT HAVE TO START IN SEPTEMBER AND LAST UNTIL MID-JANUARY? ALL THE PRESSURE TO SPEND SPEND SPEND AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU ALL, BUT HERE THIS IS OUR SLOWEST TIME OF YEAR AND IT IS ALSO ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE (NOT COUNTING GIFT BUYING), ANNUAL DUES, KEYSAFE RENEWAL FEES. TAX PREP. AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE INCIDENTAL UNEXPECTED LIKE CAR REPAIRS, ILLNESS, ETC. OH WELL, I HAD MY SAY - DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT WAY?

REAL ESTATE IS PRETTY SLUGGISH HERE - THERE IS A NEW LOWES OPENING HERE SOON AND THE JOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN IS THAT IT WILL BE STAFFED BY STARVING REALTORS. I DID OKAY THIS YEAR, NOT WHERE I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO BE BUT THE RE/MAX AFFILIATION SURE HELPED ME IN THIS MARKET. WE GET QUITE A FEW REFERRALS FROM RE/MAX OFFICES IN THE PHOENIX AREA - THAT HELPS.

We put up minimal decor, shop online and don't attend every party which we are invited to attend. We don't feel bad about declining an invite nor do we make silly excuses. We reserve our time for family and friends whom we love. These are a few items which have reduced our stress greatly!
