Hunter Education Program offered by Katy ISD
I have written several blogs about interesting and unique local type education courses offered by various groups spread across the Katy area. I believe this program fits the description perfectly of being a unique course offered by a school district. Katy ISD Community Education segment is offering a Hunter education course. These classes will be conducted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The main emphasis is on SAFETY and prevention of hunting accidents.
Some of the primary goals of this education class will be placed on safe use of firearms; hunter ethics; and developing an attitude of proper hunting and outdoor values. The class is being held on Saturday March 3 and Saturday March 10, 2012 from 8:00 A. M. until 1:00 P.M. All students must attend both sessions, pay a fee of $15 for materials provided by the State and get a 70 % passing grade on the required test in order to qualify for Certification.
The class is physically being held at the KISD Kenneth Welch Outdoor Learning Center and this facility is located at the extreme west end of South Stadium past the Katy High School baseball field. It is fairly easy to find your away around once you get to Stadium and Merrell Center area.
Absolutely NO firearms are allowed at these classes.
Tuition fees can be paid via Master card and Visa by sending the information via fax 281-396-6340 or via phone 281-396-6365 or in person on school days from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Educational Support complex 6301 South Stadium Lane Katy Texas 77494.
I personally really like education of this nature especially when firearms are involved. Attending these types of classes could save another person’s life. I am not a hunter but Texas is probably one of if not the largest state in the US when it comes to the number of hunters actively participating at any point in time in this sport. Education is very important to prevent accidents and deaths.
