Kylie Bisutti has quit modelng for Victoria's Secrets because she feels it compromises her faith. Do you think so? I think anyone with a Christian belief system would agree that walking a runway in your underwear is not the best example and does not honor God.
She is only 21 and has the strength to stand for her convictions. She has talked about the pressure to be a certain look and size leading to bulimia and anorexia being problems for many people. The size of models is not really achievable for the normal person and not really a good role model for today's teens.
Based upon what I am hearing she has now been subject to all sorts of negative comments. Why? Why are people so ugly about what someone chooses to do with their life and has the courage to stand up and tell the truth?
Her young cousin gave her an epihany one day when she said she wanted to stop eating so she could be like her. Her comment was "I didn't want to be that type of person that she thought she had to do that. Thousands of girls that think beauty is an outer issue, and really it's a heart issue."
While she feels it has not hurt her career, one major apparel outfitter has refused to work with her now.
My question to the major apparel outfitter is "If you had someone who was with PETA or a lesbian or supports some other type of cause, would you not work with them either?" When does someone's personal beliefs make them suitable or not suitable to model?
She is leaving lucrative money and status to follow her convictions.
All I can say is Good Luck Kylie and it is great to see a young person who can stand up for their beliefs without condemning others.
I would hope that we as people are always willing to stand up for the right thing. Have I always done so? Probably not. Wish I could say I always have but I am human and have not always done so. My mouth and saying what I think got me in so much trouble when I was younger I have tried to be more diplomatic in my old age. Diplomatic or not my wish is to always stand for the right thing and enjoy life to the fullest.
Enjoying the view.
