Portsmouth offers such a wide variety of things to do all year long! We've got all kinds of theaters, parks, music, museums, galleries, and of course shopping galore in the downtown area as well as just a few minutes away at all the outlets in Kittery Maine, just across the bridge.
Being right here along the coast, we've got beaches and all kinds of boating and ocean activities for the summers. If you love winter sports, we've got ice skating, snow skiing and loads of winter fun close by as well. Great winter alpine skiing is as close as a 45 minute drive, and just a bit further you'll find winter fun in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We've got loads of restaurants of just about every taste imaginable. We've actually been dubbed "The Restaurant Capital of the Eastern Seaboard" because we have more restaurants per capita than any other area. You'll never go hungry here!! And we've got plenty of nightlife too, even in the thick of winter!
Our schools are top-notch, especially with the brand-new renovation and additions at the Portsmouth High School. And we've got a gorgeous brand-new huge library centrally located in the downtown area. Our new library has something for everyone and it is a beauty, too!
If you love history, you'll love this area! We've got some awesome historical areas all over town - loads of historical homes open to the public. Strawbery Banke is our very own outdoor living museum showing 375 years of living history - this is an awesome place to spend an entire day if you have the time.
The Athaneum in downtown Market Square is a fabulous museum full of local history, and it's in a gorgeous brick building right in the heart of the town.
As you can probably tell, I love living here in Portsmouth, and if you're interested in making this wonderful place your new home, I'd love to help.
