We've got loads of restaurants of just about every taste imaginable.  We've actually been dubbed "The Restaurant Capital of the Eastern Seaboard" because we have more restaurants per capita than any other area.  You'll never go hungry here!!  And we've got plenty of nightlife too, even in the thick of winter!

Our schools are top-notch, especially with the brand-new renovation and additions at the Portsmouth High School.  And we've got a gorgeous brand-new huge library centrally located in the downtown area.  Our new library has something for everyone and it is a beauty, too!

Hi Carole - thank you for that really nice comment!  I love living here and this whole area is just such a great place to live that it's easy to write about.  We have so much history here, that just that alone would take several days, and then we have all kinds of other stuff to see and do, too.  You're not too far away - come on up!

Hi Lenn - ready, set, come on up!!!  Thanks!

Hi Jeff - yep, the market here in the Seacoast areas is pretty good, despite what the media keeps trying to portray.  Thanks!

Many thanks for the comments!

Hi Monika - oh, more than a 'ghost or two', at least according to lots of local legends and books.  You should come up for the Candlelight Stroll at Strawbery Banke - that is an awesome treat for those who love the historic homes!

Ann, The homes and the history in your area is amazing. We have absolutely nothing like that here, for us an old home was built in the 1950's. And that's quite a spread is pricing for Portsmouth. Nice job.

Hi Lynda - thanks for reading! I know there are many parts of the country where old is just what you wrote. Up here, old takes on a whole new meaning! It's really fascinating to be able to go into a lot of these antique homes and try to visualize how people lived way back then. And so many of them have been so lovingly restored over time - beautiful pieces of history that are being lived in. Imagine homes that were built in the 1600's and 1700's, even 1800's, still being lived in and in fabulous condition, too........ we've got quite a number of those here in this area. Ann

Hi Angie - we certainly are doing better than the media likes to portray when they paint the whole country with a broad brush.  Our overall numbers are off a little but we're holding our own for the most part here in my areas.

Thanks for commenting!

Hi Jay - you bet!  As long as Geno's is open, it will always be THE place to be for locals and for politics!!

I just started to write Mike who, when it dawned on me you just might mean the Mike of the "Geno's" family....correct?  If that's who you mean, he's doing great.  I see him once or twice a month, and he and his wife are doing just super.  If that's not who you meant, you'll have to let me know....

Hi Jay - that's exactly who I thought you meant, and that's who I wrote about.  He and I worked together many years ago, at C-21 Ocean Realty, and we shared a desk back then.  He and his wife run the appraisal business, and his daughter has joined them as well.  They're all doing great!
