The board of regents only have one finalist for the University President position at Texas A&M.  Elsa Murano.  A Woman.  A Minority. And under 50.  All firsts for our university.  So, I want to know what you think?  Will she be good for the Aggies?  Does she have enough experience to lead a major university?

Murano does have Aggie ties.  She first came to A&M as an associate animal science professor and both director and associate director of Texas A&M's Center for Food Safety. She stayed until 2001, when she left for Washington.  She returned to A&M in 2005 serving as vice chancellor and dean.

I'd be happy to see a woman leading Texas A&M.  I just hope she has the experience and knowledge to lead our great university.

I mostly concur with your take, but wonder if she has what it takes to lead the Aggie Nation.

Hi Linda:  If Ms Murano has the qualifications... I'd love to see her be President of such a major and well-respected university.  Keep us posted on what happens.  Thanks for sharing...

It is official.  Elsa Murano was named the 23rd president of Texas A&M University on Thursday, becoming the first woman and first Hispanic to hold the position.

I'm looking forward to the future!  Go Ags!
