Showing homes in the NC and GA mountiansYes, the unthinkable finally happened while I was out showing homes today!  It had been a great day so far as I met Clients that drove down from Asheville, NC to find a home her in the Hiawasse, Blairsville and Blue Ridge, GA mountains.

We saw some great homes with awesome views of the lake and long range mountain views. At the next to last home, as I had they key to the door in my hand - I dropped it and it fell through the the deck! Oh my gosh, there was absolutely no way to get under there to find that key. All I could do was call the listing agent and apologize. Thankfully they brought out another key the next day and we were able to show the home.

That one single key fell right through the decking, but had it been on a tag key ring it might not have happened at all. So now that the unthinkable mishap is out of the way, we did make an offer on one of the homes in Blue Ridge, GA and are just waiting to finalize the details and go to under contract!

My problem is just trying to get the lockbox open. We use only combination locks, but would love to have the electronic boxes...maybe I wouldn't break my nails as often :)

I had showing where my buyers were really interested. But there was no key in the lock box. The LB was there, but there was no key. I called the listing office and they were concerned and sent someone out right away to check out the situation.

I was the guilty party when I was so distracted by my buyers that we were halfway back to the office before I realized I had the insert to the Supra Box along with the key in my possession.  Kept my mouth shut, bid them a fond farewell and fortunately got the insert and key back to the house before it was known to be missing.  I now leave the insert on the stoop along with my supra key so that I don't leave the key in the house and don't take the insert!

This is always my fear, Rebecca - or I worry that I've lost the key somewhere on the property while on a buyer tour...now I make sure that the key goes into the same pouch I keep my Sentrilock card in...so now if I lose one thing, I've lost them all!  :-)

Rebecca,  This reminds me of locking one's self out of a home.  It also reminds me of the day I dropped my cell phone and it went into a storm drain.  There was no way I was dropping myself into the drain. There would be no way to get out ... it was too far down!  But I did pull the grate to expose the opening. I rigged the end of a broom with massive amounts of electrical tape.  Pressing down on the phone it stuck to the end of the broom's taped device and I retrieved it.  It's just one of those things we never forgot even though we may want too!

Thanks for the reblog Rebecca. Most all foreclosures here are on the combo lock boxes and they tear my nails up every time too. Worse yet is when you get there and the lockbox isn't even there!
