Now in it’s 14th year, the non-profit group is hoping that this year’s schedule will bring out large crowds to rebuild the event so it is heralded as one of the premier events in Ridgewood.
First Night’s mission is to provide entertainment to the community with an alcohol-free/drug-free New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts with events around town that are geared toward good old-fashioned family fun.
The children's program runs from 4pm-9pm at Benjamin Franklin Middle School located at 355 N. Van Dien Ave; there will be face painters, creative art projects, cupcake decorating and several dance and musical performances all geared toward children under 14. The Battle of the Bands commences at 5pm in several downtown locations.
If you like Jazz, you'll enjoy the concert jazz performances of Lou Calmano & Eric Olsen. If Classical music is more your 'thing' then Palisades Virtuosi is for you; performance begins at 8pm. And for those who like Vocal Quartets, the 10pm show features High 5 Vocalworks --- a vocal group that entertains with humor, flair and a bit of theatrics!
A wide variety of creative entertainment and performance art is planned for December 31st starting at 4pm. A $10 button is the “ticket” to the performances and events; buttons can be purchased at select sponsor locations in the downtown area.
