As anyone living in the area knows, the annual event that is South by Southwest took over the Austin neighborhood beginning March 9, 2012. While the interactive portion of SXSW has already ended, there is still time to catch the best in movies and music from the brightest current and rising stars. SXSW 2012 wraps up this weekend in Austin, with special screenings of documentaries, animated shorts, short films, festival favorites and big budget pictures ending Saturday evening and the live music portion finishing up the festival on Sunday.
The Austin Police Department wants to remind SXSW attendees that they need to make sure they only purchase their SXSW tickets through official outlets (either via the website or the Austin Convention Center kiosk). It appears that thieves stole several of the turquoise All-Access wristbands from an Austin Convention Center service counter a few days ago and are believed to have been sold to unsuspecting SXSW attendees. If you purchased your All-Access wristband on or after March 13, 2012, please check the serial number. If the serial number on your band is between 1-3323 and 1-3400, you may have a stolen band and need to get in contact with local Austin police.

While the film and music all access badges are completely sold out, tickets for specific dates are still available. Just make sure you only purchase your tickets through a reputable outlet and not a scalper to ensure that you are receiving the real deal. SXSW showcases some of the best that Austin has to deliver.
