I am in the room

By
Real Estate Agent with Dock Street Realty

Yesterday, I was searching for the number one key word phrase, myrtle beach real estate, and was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find my site www.cataldoteam.com on the 3rd page of Yahoo and on the second page of MSN.  I don't know how it happened, but I have been submitting it manually to all the sites for a few months.  Participating in the AR blog I think may have also helped.  Does anyone out there have any other suggestions to help a novice get the Search Engines to improve my ranking?  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Two things puzzled me, however.  One is that I am not even on page 10 of Google and the other is that two Google Ads mysteriously appeared at the bottom of my site.  Can anyone explain how this happens?  Since Google found my site to place the ads, why isn't it ranking my site?

Thanks, in advance, for your help

Linda,

Congrats!

I am right there with you, I have been working SEO for about six months now and have found that it must be done on a wide front, your website must get new content frequently, post articles, blog, social network, submit to the majors, dmoz, digg and many others and then pray that you hit the mark.

Take care!

I haven't even checked Yahoo or MSN for my key words.  Google shows me anywhere between pages 3 and 7 depending on what words I use.

UPDATE......

Alrighty - I just went and looked.  Searching for "roswell ga realtor"....

On MSN:  I'm on the first page.  4th from the top.
On Yahoo:  Again the first pge.  10th down.
On Google:  2nd page.  5th from the top.

Thanks Linda for making me take a peek.

Linda, speaking as someone who shows up for several keyword searches on page 1 for google, yahoo, etc..., you should subscribe to Karen George's blog. Since I started reading her posts about search engine optimization I have been able to place my site on those first pages. She may be a mortgage broker but she did her Masters in business & computers. She explains things really well and in layman terms. Go read all her past posts- it will help!

Linda – Here are two blog posting that will avoid you from have to continually submit your site to the search engines.  QECIS.com is a SEO Friendly Search Directory that is visited by Internet spiders and bots daily and will cause your site to be continually indexed in the major search indices.

Currently, listings are FREE and will be grandfathered as long as the link remains valid.  In January that site will go undergo a internal upgrade and be converted to a paid site.  So if you want to avoid the hassle of continually submitting your site and at the same time get an URL indexed quickly, I’d advise you to act before our conversion.
