New Hampshire's Seacoast a Magical Winter Wonderland

By

Walkway to the Ocean

We had out of town guests this week and they wanted to see our wonderful NH coastline in the winter.

Usually you see lots of sun and sand when on the coast but we absolutely love our small coastline in all seasons.

We don’t often get to show it off in the winter time…So I was really looking forward to doing so.

I knew if the timing was right it could be magical.

Magical it truly was with lots of fresh snow onRye the ground. We had about 6-8 inches of light fluffy snow the night before and it was a clear sunny day in New Hampshire when we left Hampstead.

We drove to Hampton Beach and then north to my favorite spot. This little spot is well hidden and has a neat stairway going down to the water.

Seeing the mighty Atlantic Ocean from this spot always makes my heart race…I simply love it.

This time the stairs were covered with snow and on this day only a few people had goneRocks along the shore this way before me.

I saw a man walking a dog, a woman standing watching the ocean and someone was doing some cross country skiing along the shore…how very neat!

The ocean …what an amazing sight it is!

We stayed a bit just drinking in the beauty.

We then continued north to Rye NH, stopping occasionally along the way to take pictures…nothing compared to the real thing but we tried to capture what we saw….sadly it pales in Atlantic Oceancomparison to the original.

We drove up through Portsmouth NH, thinking we would stop for lunch but the parking was a nightmare…piles of snow everywhere. I don't think they knew what to do with all the snow.

Portsmouth is such a neat ocean side town with some nice restaurants but on this day it wasn’t meant to be so we decided to go have lunchReflections in Maine.

We found a little restaurant north of Kittery Maine and enjoyed some New England clam chowder but most importantly we enjoyed our good friends, Bill and Nada Marth.

We had a perfect day with our friends!

I Hope you enjoy a little bit of our New Hampshire Seacoast Winter Wonderland.

Enjoy a little virtual tour of our trip.

Ann...The place in Maine was not very good. I was very disappointed in it. We simply couldn't find a place to park downtown otherwise we would have stayed in Portsmouth.

The place is in North Hampton and is a private beach....I just love it there. Is that where you were thinking it was?

Missy...No I didn't get to visit with Ann.  But we do see each other often :)

Monika glad that the weather cooperated for you.  Here it has been an icy mess  Today especially was a good day to just stay at home and enjoy some football.

Very nice.  I find snow utterly depressing.  But, we're having 50-60 mph winds right now.  My electricity has been going out for over an hour.

Good Grief.  If we can put a man on the moon, can't we control the weather??

OMG Lenn...That simply stinks. I hate being without power!  The friends that were visiting came from your area Silver Springs MD and they got a kick out of seeing the snow on the beach.

I hope your power comes back on soon.

Very pretty, but it looks cold.  The closest thing we see here is white caps on the ocean.

Aloha from sunny Hawaii.

Monika - These are some great pictures...and a great video presentation.  I'm so jealous!  Down here in New Jersey we don't have nearly as much snow as you do!
