We had out of town guests this week and they wanted to see our wonderful NH coastline in the winter.
Usually you see lots of sun and sand when on the coast but we absolutely love our small coastline in all seasons.
We don’t often get to show it off in the winter time…So I was really looking forward to doing so.
I knew if the timing was right it could be magical.
Magical it truly was with lots of fresh snow on the ground. We had about 6-8 inches of light fluffy snow the night before and it was a clear sunny day in New Hampshire when we left Hampstead.
We drove to Hampton Beach and then north to my favorite spot. This little spot is well hidden and has a neat stairway going down to the water.
Seeing the mighty Atlantic Ocean from this spot always makes my heart race…I simply love it.
This time the stairs were covered with snow and on this day only a few people had gone this way before me.
I saw a man walking a dog, a woman standing watching the ocean and someone was doing some cross country skiing along the shore…how very neat!
The ocean …what an amazing sight it is!
We stayed a bit just drinking in the beauty.
We then continued north to Rye NH, stopping occasionally along the way to take pictures…nothing compared to the real thing but we tried to capture what we saw….sadly it pales in comparison to the original.
We drove up through Portsmouth NH, thinking we would stop for lunch but the parking was a nightmare…piles of snow everywhere. I don't think they knew what to do with all the snow.
Portsmouth is such a neat ocean side town with some nice restaurants but on this day it wasn’t meant to be so we decided to go have lunch in Maine.
We found a little restaurant north of Kittery Maine and enjoyed some New England clam chowder but most importantly we enjoyed our good friends, Bill and Nada Marth.
We had a perfect day with our friends!
I Hope you enjoy a little bit of our New Hampshire Seacoast Winter Wonderland.
Enjoy a little virtual tour of our trip.
