From time to time, I have chimed in when someone has written about having a buyer poached. Persons have challenged me about a post I have written or when I have challenged folks to be precise about the use of this terminology, “poaching my buyers.”
I have decided to write a rather detailed series on the National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics. The purpose of this series is to help me and you learn. I believe that learning comes from reading, exchanging ideas and thoughts, and yes, even, through civil disagreements. It is with this intent that I write this series.
It is important to understand what is not intended by this series. I have no desire to “humiliate” others, especially those who may have used this term or disagreed with me in my previous comments and posts. I would like to challenge you, the reader, to a greater precision and accuracy of terms. Challenge is important, humiliation is not.
Another goal for me is to learn more about the NAR Code of Ethics and to help you do the same. It is the Bible of our profession as Realtors®. If you are a member of the NAR, you have committed yourself to uphold it and abide by it. I hope we can all do a much better job of adhering to it.
I invite you on this journey with me. Let us learn together. Your viewpoints and disagreements with me are welcomed. I like to learn and when you offer your perspective, even when you disagree with me, it helps me down the path of learning. Hopefully, we can mutually teach each other.
