The Perfect Present

If you work as a Real Estate agent for a while you develop close relationships with other industry related people. One of the relationships I have developed is with a lender who asked me today what would be my perfect Christmas present. She really pushed me to know what my so called dream present would be. My simple answer revolved around the most idyllic time of my life. My son would be seven forever, each day would be summer, and we could go to the park each day, the mall or the local fair. The backyard swimming pool would get heavy use and we'd never get ants in the kitchen. I love watching my son grow up but the innocent days of seven and the wonderful times we shared are etched upon my heart and burnt into my brain. As my son gets older and more independent I admit to sometimes remembering the days gone by and wondering if we got the most out of them that we could. I am so proud of son, and the fine young man he is growing into. I know the memories we are forming today and will continue to form will be equal to those of the days gone by, but an endless summer is hard to beat.
