Time for a New Profile Picture

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Austin Texas Homes, LLC 453249

It had been awhile since I last updated my profile picture here on my blog and on my primary website (http://austintexashomes.com), along with Facebook and Twitter. I took a picture in my office earlier and posted it on Facebook asking for feedback.

After seeing it compared to a mug shot more than once, and being told that I needed a different shirt (and a different facial expression, and a different background, and...well, you understand), I decided to do the best I could to assimilate the various opinions and re-take the shot at my house in our back yard. One person even mentioned that I looked like a villain. Never had that happen before. Needless to say, I'm happy that I sought input.  :)

I didn't think the first picture was bad, but I guess some people thought I looked less friendly, or more like I had been arrested, or something. I don't really want to share that one here, but you're welcome to go look for it on Facebook if you like.

Here's the new picture that I opted to use:

While I am no longer seeking to improve on the photo, you're welcome to chime in below. I doubt that you'll be able to hurt my feelings any more than my FB friends did.  ;)

Thanks!

Jason:  Your new picture above looks just great.  Very warm, very approachable.  I like the trees in the background.  Perhaps, with those trees back there, you could tell people that this was taken at your "branch" office.  LOL.

By the way... something seems to have not worked quite right when you uploaded it to your Active Rain profile spot.  You are much more techie than I am, so I am sure you can make it work.

Take care... have a great week... hope all are well.

Karen Anne - I think it just takes awhile for the picture to show up everywhere, from what I can tell. It looks good here, so I can't really do anything at this point. Thanks for your feedback!

Fred - Everyone was very positive about this photo, but the other one apparently made me look like I was in prison, or perhaps a sanitarium.

Jason...

I guess I need to think about changing mine, but I am always afraid that if I do nobody will be able to find me!

Jason:  I did not know it took awhile for it to show up on Active Rain.  I learned something.  I normaly use Firefox, and it still is not "up" there, and now have switched over to IE... and no picture yet, either.  I am sure it will happen, though.

By the way... I saw the Facebook picture of you and the little girl with the kitty on her lap.  How totally adorable.  What a great photo!  That one... needs to be framed.  So warm, I really like it.  Is that girl one of your daughters, by perhaps ?

Just my two cents...this photo you chose is wonderful!  (And how could anyone say you looked like a villain?)

Looking good my friend. I am curious what the other picture was now and what your FB friend said. Something tells that if it was REALLY good, that Jared probably chimed in...

Jason-I think that is a great photo and I believe I remember the other one and I don't think you looked like a villian.

I LIKE this photo - I should probably make a change, too, but so dislike having my photo taken. It's always an agonizing process posing and all. I may procrastinate some more.

Jason, you can't improve on something that's already flawless.  Forget those that criticize you and opt for the one of your choice.

Well, it is good when people DO pay attention and suggest to try something new:)

I always try to 'fix' my b/f. I don't think he pays attention to my rambling, but he knows I care. Because, if no one notices your new picture, dress, marketing change~ that would really hurt.
