Why Rent When You Can Own? Because...

Not everyone is ready to buy a home. Renting a home is NOT taboo. There are many reasons families choose to rent. Whatever your reason partnering with a REALTOR® can help you find the right rental property in the least amount of time. Partnering with the right REALTOR® can put you on the path to homeownership when you're ready, not when someone else says you should buy.

Families choose to rent when/if:

  • They have relocated to a new city.
  • They need to rebuild their credit.
  • They are having a new home built.
  • They WANT to save money towards a home purchase.
  • They move frequently.
  • They are expecting an increase in income in the near future and can buy their "dream home."
  • There has been a change in familial status...marriage, divorce, death in the family, etc.

Using a REALTOR® to help you find a rental property can:

  • Shorten your search to a few days rather than a few weeks.
  • Help you negotiate the best deal on the rental.
  • Help you find properties that meet your needs without driving all over town hunting "FOR RENT" signs.
  • Help ensure to don't get trapped in a lease for an overpriced rental.
  • Ensure you don't get duped into paying fees that the landlord should be paying.
  • Help you prepare for home ownership through counseling and planning.
  • In a nutshell, save you time, money, and frustration!

REALTORS® have access to up-to-date resources that can help you find what you are looking for. A REALTOR® serving in the capacity as a Tenant Representative works FOR you, NOT the landlord. They work in your best interest to get the best deal for you. While the Tenant Representative/REALTOR® works FOR you they are paid by the seller. So, you get priceless, time-saving service at no cost to you.

If you are a renter in the Houston area visit NorthHoustonRentals.com to begin your home search. If you are not in the Houston area be sure to find a REALTOR® with knowledge of your search area to assist you.

Happy home hunting!

Great point.  And - its important to note: Buyer's typically do not PAY a Realtor - the sellers do!

Thanks James. So many things went through my mind as I was writing this post and I am sure I lost more than a couple. I usually plan, or at least give careful thought, to my blog posts before I start writing. This on just kind of came to me while I was looking at my website.

Tenant Rep. is not big in my area because rental is a very small portion of the market.   This however make sense that a tenant would want their own rep. just like a buyer has a rep.

Jennifer, after I wrote this post I realized there are a couple of reasons why agents don't, or can't, build a business on rentals. They both boil down to not being economically feasible. While it is noble to try to help everyone with hopes of someday helping them become homeowners, for some it doesn't pay for gas.

I have the ideal situation I suppose. The market here for renters is huge, I am on a 100% plan, I love working with this market, and they really appreciate my services. I get to spend at least six months building a relationship with my rental clients before they start thinking of buying a home. Just got invited over for Christmas Eve dinner by one couple. If you think the gumbo looked good...wish you could have tried the crawfish étouffée. Mmm, mmm good!
