Smoke Free Ordinance Adopted by Wheaton, Illinois

As of January 2, 2007, Wheaton, Illinois has passed a new citywide ordinance banning smoking in public places and workplaces. Smoking is prohibited in Wheaton in the following locations:Smoke Free

  • Enclosed public places and workplaces
  • Within 25 feet of public entrances
  • Within 25 feet of open air public dining area
  • All outdoor events and venues including Adams and Memorial Parks

These areas all need to be smoke free beginning January 2, 2007. Wheaton bowling alleys have until June 1, 2007 to meet these requirements. A fine of $75 will be issued to individuals who break these rules and $150 for owners/managers.
