There is a gravel road that passes under 441 in the historic Town of Dillsboro that leads to a small public boat launch for non motorized boats. People who kayak, canoe, tube or raft love getting on the Tuckasegee River from this site. Scotts Creek flows into the Tuckasegee at this point and there’s several nice areas to just sit and watch the water. Winding through the park to the other side leads one back under 441 in a different place and there’s a walking path to another small park with playground equipment for children.
The Dillsboro Town Council made the entranceway to this little park very attractive with the addition of a new Dogwood Tree. Our local paper often reports on the various town council meetings in all of the little towns around Jackson County. Usually though they are reporting on contentious meetings and people behaving badly. Wouldn’t it be more pleasant and better for everyone if just once in a while the paper would report on the good choices they council does make in keeping our areas beautified with the trees and plantings?

Good morning Mona. Hmmmmm, what a concept, telling good stories about things that matter. I don't know, could be positive. Pictures are terrific. I have a dogwood in my yard.
As much as I like the look of pink dogwoods, there is something so very earthy and traditional about those of the color you have pictured. Neat photos, Mona!
Your dogwoods were lovely this year. We enjoyed them all over North Carolina. I especially loved the pink ones, as I had never seen one that color before!
Hi Joni, I can't believe you'd never seen the pink dogwoods before and can only imagine what a treat that must have been. Did you travel in NC this year...a vacation from TX? Thanks for your comment.
What job could possibly be better than bringing people together by sharing our common interests and learning new ones?
Here's my opportunity to introduce conversations and photos of the area I feel so passionate about...the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

Hi Sheila, what a concept indeed. Where would the world be if we spent an equal amt of time talking about what is right as we do about what is wrong?

I want a pink dogwood for my yard. They are so pretty.
I too wish our paper would have a little more of the "good" news that happens.
Mona, Sounds like a great place to visit and enjoy nature. Hope you have a great weekend.
Wouldn't that be an amazingly awesome thing to have happen, Mona. Something positive instead of criticism. Good post.
Hi Myrl, the pink ones usually get most of the publicity and they are gorgeous but I too like the earthy feel of these mellower dogwoods.
Tammy, you are older than 21...go get yourself a pink dogwood! You work hard and deserve it.
Will, thanks...you too.
Toni, the world would just explode if it had to deal with good news, lol.
Mona we are all enjoying the dogwoods, such a happy flower. Dogwood was a great choice for the entrance to the Dillsboro NC park.
Jennifer, I love hearing from people all over the country who are enjoying their own dogwoods. Brings us closer together. Enjoy your weekend.
