Come to Colleton River Plantation to visit the filming site for "The Legend of Bagger Vance" starring Will Smith and Matt Damon!    An exclusive 1,500-acre golfing community located before the bridge to Hilton Head Island, Colleton River Plantation borders both the Colleton River and a nature preserve. Although the community is located on the mainland it is still considered one of Hilton Head's gated plantation neighborhoods.  Colleton River is the only plantation in the area with two clubhouses looking over the two championship golf courses, which have been recipients of numerous accolades including recognition as two of Golf Magazine's Top 100. Just one short mile from the community deepwater docks down Colleton River lies access to both the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic.

Two stunning clubhouses overlook impressive views of the main golf courses of this exclusive community.  The original Colleton River Clubhouse is 30,000 square feet and overlooks the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course's last four holes. The building was recently named the "Best Private Clubhouse in America" by Crittenden Golf, Inc. and is presently under reconstruction.

The second, a 20,000-square-foot antebellum-style mansion, overlooks both the Port Royal Sound and the back nine holes of the Pete Dye course.  This clubhouse resembles old-style, deep-south plantation homes with an exterior combination of handmade brick and hardwood and a copper-paneled roof.  A massive 5,000-square-foot wraparound porch surrounds the clubhouse with a 360° view of the community's gorgeous vista.

Colleton River Plantation is home to three fantastic golf courses and two golfing practice facilities that include target and chipping/putting greens.  Two of the courses have been nationally awarded and were laid by famous designers; the third is a 9-hole, Par-3, Augusta National-style named for its late designer David Borland and built in 1991.

The 18-hole Pete Dye course opened in 1998 as part of the Colleton River Plantation Country Club. Both courses are Private Equity, but this course is significant for making Golf Magazine's prestigious Top 100 list a quick six months after opening!

The Signature Jack Nicklaus course also has 18 holes but spreads over 800 acres of deep-water land.  This course has been on the Top 100 list for over a decade. It opened in 1992 and has received multitudes of accolades for the exceptional playing experiences and natural vistas of lush meadowlands.  The picturesque last five holes border Colleton River.
