PGA Golf Hawaii:  the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui and Waialae CC Honolulu, Oahu

The beginning of the 2008 PGA golf season is approaching within the next week when the Mercedes Benz Championship is played at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Maui.  The tournament will be held January 4-7 2008.

The following week, the PGA Tour moves over to Oahu where they will play the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club January 11-14, 2008.  History was made at last years Sony Open when amateur Tadd Fujikawa made the cut in the professional event.

Living in Hawaii and playing golf in Hawaii is a daily treat.  Whether you are actually golfing or just along in the golf cart for the ride, Hawaii golf courses boast some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

I recently took a short golf vacation for a few days with my son and went over to the island of Kauai (20 minute flight from Oahu) where we played 2 rounds of golf at Poipu Bay Golf Course which was the previous home to PGA Tours Grand Slam of Golf.  We also snuck in a 3rd round at Puakea Golf Course which is a very nice public course.

A few photos of Poipu Bay Golf Course.......I don't need to put descriptions as the pictures speak for themselves.

David,

Love those photos..my dream is to play at least one course in every part of the US and Hawaii is number one on my list but the travel is quite long so I'm not sure when I'll make it there...by the way...I did somewhat play that course but it was on my video game:)

1st SGT, Good morning. If that is not a reason to go to Hawaii nothing is. Playing golf with that back drop. You can only enjoy the sport that much more. Great Pictures. Wish I was there.

Neal-I bet your score on your video game was lower than ours!  We played the tips both days and the course yardage was over 7,100.  This course is also set up so that about 70% of the holes go directly into the wind which probably made the yardage play more like 8,000 yards!  This is only one of the few beautiful courses in Hawaii and my goal is similar to yours.  I want to play every golf course on every Hawaiian island before I am done.  Aloha!

Jff-If you or any other AR member come to Hawaii and want to play golf, all you have to do is let me know and we will be off to the course!  I very rarely, hardly ever, almost never turn down a round of golf!!!!!!!

Hi Dave, those photos sure do bring back great memories. Makes me want to go to get my photo album and video tape out to watch them again as the snow piles up outside.

I am jealous... LOL

Jay-I am equally jealous of the snow :)  Well, sort of!  I am glad that you have good memories of your trips to Hawaii and hope that you will return someday so I can meet you in person.  I truly appreciate the way you went out of your way to help with outside blogging sites.  You da man!
