All in one day, I requested help from Sensei Tammy Emineth to help me understand SEO better AND I responded to a request from Grasshopper Kathy Stoltman to help her make her posts prettier. So, does that make me like a revolving door mentor/mentee? What it actually does is make me very fortunate.
I got to speak to both of these women on a quiet Sunday morning.
First … Tammy. She helped me understand the main purpose of my blog is to direct people to our website. Her suggestion was to provide links to specific places within the website from the blog. Somehow she managed to utilize her fully functioning SEO mojo to look at our domains and discovered that we don’t have different titles on the various pages of our website. I need to determine powerful keywords so that titles reflect the unique content of each page. Then the keywords need to be incorporated into the anchor text for the links on my AR blog and wordpress blog so readers interested in specific real estate information are linked directly to what they are looking for. Read her account of our telephone chat, you’ll see I was given a lot more detailed instructions. She spoke in layman’s terms so I could at least glimpse light at the end of the very confusing search engine tunnel. I’m looking forward to accomplishing what she’s set out for me and in a month or so, I‘ll get a review! Thank you Tammy, you are a generous and beautiful spirit. I appreciate you so much.
Next… Kathy. Her goal was clear. She didn’t want to invest much more time in blogging than she already does. She wanted to emphasize her content but also pretty it up the appearance a little I promised her it would be simple and that she’d have a good time with it once she grasped the few very easy steps. Full disclosure here…I didn’t invent this. I was fortunate early on with AR, that Sheila Newton of SC reached out to me when I was struggling with clever formatting of my posts. In a nutshell, this is what Sheila taught me and I paid it forward to Kathy. Your posts can be written in Word and copied to an email editor OR you can just write it in your email editor. Create a new email, type your content, highlight your content and change the font, size and color. Minimize the window and open AR to “Write A New Post”. With both AR and email windows open, side by side…highlight the text in the email editor and drag to AR. When you see the little box, drop the content into AR. Zip a dee doo dah.. Pretty post! Visit Kathy’s article about our meeting of pretty minds and you’ll say “By Jove, I think she’s got it!”.
This was such a satisfying experience with both women and thank you to Grand Poobah Sensei Dick Greenberg for opening these doors with the Sensei/Grasshopper April Challenge. I think we are all swimming in a knowledge pool!
