Last week the Wall Street Journal did a series of articles on OIL ... one that I found very interesting was the consumption of oil on a per capita basis.  Here are the stats:

First Place: Saudi Arabia with 32.88 barrels per person

Second Place US with 25.64 barrels per person

Third Place Canada with 24.83 barrels per person

Fourth Place Netherlands with 22.54 barrels per person

Fifth Place South Korea with 16.18 barrels per person

France was 9th, Germany 10th, China 18th and India was 20th with 0.87 barrels

Interesting note is that the US has decreased overall demand of oil on a per capita basis.

I look forward to the day that our country is not depended on foreign oil.  I sure we can do it, but for various reasons we don't want to.

Wayne,

I would agree and submit that nuclear energy is clean and readily available ... FRANCE powers 80% of their country with nuclear energy and has had not had a meltdown or any other major issues ... why can't we do the same?
