Wounded Warriors Play Golf at Harbor Club

In honor of Armed Forces Day on Saturday May 19, 2012 a group of  Wounded Warriors played golf  at Harbor Club.  The men's golf group and the ladies' golf group combined with the Wounded Warriors in a golf scramble at Harbor Club Golf Course.  The goal was to entertain the representatives of our armed services in a game of golf, and to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.  The purpose of the Wounded Warrior Project is

  • To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.

  • To help injured service members aid and assist each other.

  • To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

Twelve area service men and women joined members of Harbor Club Golf Association to play a scramble format, each foursome included a mix of members and Wounded Warriors.  Entry fees and money raised in an auction held during the following luncheon, was donated to the Wounded Warriors Project which helps to reorient these American heroes back into civilian life.  The event was an exciting experience for all of Harbor Club.

The sights of the day were a riot of color, as Harbor Club members decked out their Clubhouse, golf carts, homes, and apparel to show the Wounded Warriors how much we appreciate their sacrifices for all Americans!  After golf, there was a luncheon and social time to get to know these new friends better.

The total money raised for the Wounded Warriors exceeded $10,000.  The day ended as Harbor Club members happily looked forward to making next year's Wounded Warrior Tournament even more successful.
