This week at 3214 Radiance in Louisville, we had a custom wrought iron railing installed on our new front porch. This was a little complicated as we had to have a representative of the company come out and precisely measure our porch. The concrete porch had been poured about a month and was sufficiently cured to allow for drilling and setting the new handrails. We were quite pleased and impressed with the results.
Another one of our hang-ups has been the countertops. We needed to get the cabinets installed before we could take measurements. When countertops are measured, the most critical measurement is in the corner. If the measure measurement is off by a few degrees, the gap to the wall will increase with the length of the cabinet. Another thing that the consultant is looking for is that all of the cabinet tops are level. Everything needs to be level and plumb. In this picture, you can see the dishwasher close to being finished.
Sometimes, I think that we are our own worst enemies. We asked for a beveled edge on the countertops. We had been to Home Depot and realized that this was a $6 per foot upgrade. Since we were only dealing with eleven feet, we decided to spring for the extra. Long ago, we had obtained a quote and timeline from a local manufacturer for the countertop. When it came time to measure, their timeline went out a couple of weeks and the price skyrocketed. We could never understand if this was caused by the beveled edge or if they had become busier. We solved this problem by using another company. Turnaround time was less than a week.
I have another house to show in Highgate Springs this weekend and will mention 3214 Radiance to them as well.
