Opinons on Newspaper Articles

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Benchmark Realty Group
There seems to be an article in any newspaper across America today that is talking about the "Downward Trend" in the housing market. I don't know about you but I am getting questions and comments everyday either from sellers we work with or buyers I am working with.."So the bottom is falling out of the real estate market?. At least that is what I read in todays local paper." My response continues to be "No, the bottom is not falling out. Sellers that are serious about selling their property at a realistic profit, know that if they price their property agressively and no more than 5% over what their bottom line is ... it will sell." And to the buyers "No, the bottom is not falling out. But the sellers know that buyers are wiser and they want a good deal and great value for their money. And with wide choice of properties on the market, interest rates on mortgages continue to be good, its a GREAT time to buy." We were spoiled for a while, as soon as property came on the market, within 2 weeks it was under contract. Now those of us who have a true work ethic and truly see the "American" dream of home and real property ownership, are willing to work harder at it. What are your thoughts? I'd like to hear how others in the industry are responding.

I agree - the bottom isn't falling out. I wish NAR would step up to the plate and combat the negative media messages!
