The 4th of July survey!

Last night one of the news stations I read online asked me to take a survey. there were 3 questions.

1. Are you vacationing away from home today?

2. Are you staying close to home?

3. Are you working?

At the time I took it, an overwhelming amount of people where "staying close to home".

I am wondering, is this due to economy or the fact that the 4th lands in the middle of the week? Being that I am on the Oregon coast I notice some extras and know many will come over for the day as week will be having a nice "warm" day in the high 60's. Your Thoughts?

We stayed home this year as we just though why? Why pay for gas, why fight the crowds, when we can just hang with a few friends and family and have just as much fun having a BBQ here at home.
