For the ladies to read when we feel depressed...

When we start feeling sorry for ourselves we need to do a little research.  I have been reading a few Pearl Buck novels that I bought at an auction.  They tell about life in China and mention "foot-binding" which was not outlawed until 1902, according to Wikipedia.

We women can now have productive careers, choose our own husbands, and walk easily!  Foot-binding, which was a form of striving for beauty, was common for evidently hundreds of years. It was also a method of making sure that women didn't have power or become threats.  Reading about it is ghastly and scary and almost unbelievable.  Go to http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/1791599.html and read the comic strip Flinch that you'll find there and do a little research at Wikipedia and you'll feel that you want to get up and walk and run and you'll feel so happy that we live in a country that respects women!

How does this relate to real estate?  It makes me glad that I am respected as a business woman and as a REALTOR.

But what about one of the central points of the Good Earth ??? THE LAND never sell the land. Real estate is a valuable permanent asset.

Charlie, I must read Good Earth again.  It has been years since I read it, possibly before real estate!  I'm reading Pavilion of Women, a lesser novel no doubt.  I appreciate your pointing that out.  Thanks for comments.
