Many people are suffering from unusually high temperatures this year. For us, here in Scottsdale/Phoenix/Cave Creek AZ, it's just business as usual. However, for others, maybe this graphic will help you understand summer in Arizona.
Seriously, be sure you do not leave your small children or pets in a parked car for any amount of time.
Drink plenty of water.
Look for any shade to park your car under and/or buy one of those sunshield protectors - they do help.
Always wear your sunscreen and reapply often if you're outside.
And, finally, if you're out and about, try to go early in the morning or after sunset - I know it's still 100 F at midnight, but at least you're not in full sun.
Remember, we'll have the "bragging rights" come October through May!!!
Helping you make informed decisions whether buying or selling homes in Scottsdale, Cave Creek and north Phoenix Arizona. I know the area - I live here.
A portion of all sales is donated to the various animal rescue and humane societies.
Jane, on one of the talk shows out of LA yesterday, I heard you were close to us. And, the three new planets - well, I can't wait for the Mars lander to send back what I already know - it's just too darned hot close to the sun, LOL.
That's a pretty cute graphic to illustrate where Arizona falls on the heat scale, Juli! I know it can get warm in that state, but you need to add Prescott on there. I remember that it's a little cooler there! You could likely place it between Tucson and Earth:-)
LOL, Nick, right now, it's monsoon season here in Scottsdale and it's not DRY - when I have "frosty mirrors" after taking a shower, I know we're in trouble, LOL.
Juli Your graphic really puts it in a humorous perspective and your points are well made. The entire country got clobbered this year. I'm hoping for a blixxard this winter
Compared to last summers CRAZY drought, this summer seems so plesant. I know it is just as hot, but at least we've had rain. Las year it was brown, dry, and fires breaking out all around us.
Juli I know it is hot for you but you are lucky it is Dry Heat!, shirts do not stick to your back as in the humid east coast heat! I have noticed this summer made up for last year for us it has been hot for the past 20 days even in Marina Del Rey and sadly humid hot days!
We worry about our little Lola when she is outside because she is black and soaks up those rays quickly. wish I could send some of our rain to you to cool off some,
Marilyn, both of my "boys" are mostly black on the top - one of them sits in the hot sun for as long as I'll let him - usually not long, that's for sure, LOL. The other one, well, he's ALWAYS in the shade.
This summer is even more unusual..hot AND humid. I've found little desire in my evening outside walks this summer. I've discovered the dreaded mall walking..lol.

Juli, I seriously don't know how you guys survive the summer heat! We lived one summer in Las Vegas, and that was enough!
LOL, Tony, it's called A/C and swimming pools, LOL. Today, it was only 90. We get a couple of breaks with monsoon storms and such.
My goodness, they just discovered 3 new planets. I can only imagine that heat. We are finally getting it here, but nothing like your temps.

Juli, I can't believe that no one has yet said; "but it's a dry heat"!

You have me in stitches! It's 11:30pm in Surprise and the temperature is 91°F.
No pets or children in cars, even if the windows are rolled completely down. AND watch you children around water.

It's really quite pleasant until you realize the chickens here lay fried eggs.
LOL, Michael. Are you going to the AR meetup on Tuesday?
Sunscreen and water are muy important in summer desert environments!
I don't know how you people can do it - it must be so hard to stay indoors when it's so beautiful outside.

We've had 50 days of 90 degree plus weather in Maryland. We are happy to see other areas recognized as the hottest places.
LOL, Roy, I'll catch you in February!! LOL.
