I recently had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks in Vermont. I flew into Burlington, VT which is always a treat to see the Green Mountain State from the air and Lake Champlain. My family lives primarily in Johnson, VT which is about 30 miles east of Burlington and located in Lamoille County. In my mind it is always a treat to be in Vermont because everything is so green...major difference from Arizona.
I also visited these areas:
Hyde Park, Morristown, Newport, Stowe, Jeffersonville, Hinesburg, Shelburne, Essex Junction, Underhill, Jericho, Waterbury, Williston, Lowell & Eden Mills
Why do they call it the Green Mountain State? Vermont is called the Green Mountain State because the Green Mountains that run all the way through the middle of the state. Supposedly The Green Mountains are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. I knew that talc and slate were mined from the Green Mountains, but asbestos, granite and marble are also rocks and minerals mined here.
When most people think about Vermont perhaps they think about Vermont dairy, maple syrup, Ben & Jerry's, skiing, agriculture and the fall foliage. Well it is certainly all of that and so much more. It's about the people and the wonderful environment. It's never a surprise to me to find such warm and friendly people in Vermont. Let us not forget about the abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits in Vermont, such a treat indeed.
Hope you enjoy some of my pictures from my recent trip. It is always a pleasure to be in Vermont.
