REPUBLICAN CONVENTION TIDBIT...Fran's Friday Forum...!!!

I guess you can call me a purist, but the only coverage of the REPUBLICAN CONVENTION in Tampa that satisfied my needs was C-SPAN...

What I was searching for during the convention was any wisdom which came from the plethora  of speakers offered at the gathering...

I was not disappointed...neither in the many bits of wisdom I was able to gather nor in my choice of where to watch and listen...FOX, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, or even NPR just weren’t cutting it...!!!

This was not the time for commentary, sound bytes, talking points or the like...I wanted pure, unadulterated, unslanted, direct from the mouths and hearts and minds of the speakers themselves...

Oh, I know many of the speeches were scripted in advance, nevertheless, there is still something to be gleaned from eye to eye contact and ‘live’ presentation...especially in light of the way masses of voters were ‘duped’ in the last election by the ‘alluring and magnetic’ delivery style of President Obama...

He gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘EMPTY RHETORIC’...

In any event, I could cite dozens of quotable remarks which underscore and identify with the central message of the ROMNEY RYAN ticket...and which became my personal favorites...BUT...

The ONE really important one which I shall present here was made by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum on Tuesday evening...

This remark, supported, as Senator Santorum said by several studies, should be repeated ad nauseum throughout our entire K-12 education system...

He mentioned three simple points to assure a less than 2% chance of falling into poverty...and, if not in compliance with these three simple goals or relatively easy to accomplish tasks, could result in a 38 times greater risk of ending in poverty...

ONE: Graduate from High School

TWO: Work Hard

THREE: Get married before having children

If you took nothing else from the convention, this simple formula should be shared with every one of our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, students, etc...

I know I will share it often, and invite you to do the same...!!!

Amazing that this formula is so simple and needs to be stress to young people to keep them on track.

Fran, I'm with you on the C-Span coverage. It was the only one I could stomach as well. I prefer to come to my own opinions and not have it spoon fed to me as well. That is wisdom and as I was reading in James today, wisdom is only achieved on our knees. James was fondly referred to in his day as "Old Camel Knees" because of the heavy callouses on his knees from praying all the time. I am pleased with the amount of speakers referencing God, the Bible and the need of the Almighty in our lives. I think Mitt and Paul could be the leadership we need right now. And in the Wolf Blitzer vain of thought... The American people might be Blessed by Romney/Ryan... as well they should. Although you'll never hear him say that. I also loved Clint letting us know why we don't hear so many conservative thoughts coming from Hollywood... because it's just not typical of conservatives to be in your face about things... but they are there. Have you seen October Baby yet? You will love it!!

I'm looking forward to seeing October Baby...!!!

Clint Eastwood so subtlely but profoundly made two comments in particular...'We own this Country' and 'liberal celebrities flit around hot dogging' (my paraphrase)...!!! Clint didn't get very favorable media reviews, but that is expected...He really hit a home run with those present on the floor and the Republican base however...!!!

I have listened to the last couple Obama's speeches, and he's beginning to sound Romneyesque...Patriotic, American, Pro Military, Presidential looking, Job Creator, etc...

Do you think he knows he only has 4 more months to implement all these new plans of his...!!!

Where have these ideas been the last 3 and 1/2 years.........OR

Is this just more empty rhetoric designed to win reelection...???

Hi, Fran - I didn't watch it in its entirety, but judging from the media's meltdown, it must have been successful across the board. lol

One thing about Eastwood, he didn't use the teleprompter perhaps, purposely, to imitate The One when he didn't have his security blanket. The media and Hollywood didn't approve of his performance, so his message must have been spot on. I thoroughly enjoyed that part. lol

I overhear kids at the mall and movie theaters and they just sound more stupid as time goes by. It's a pity that not enough parents, whether Republican or Democrat, listened to Santorum's speech. He was, right of course.

Than: Right...All designed to win...A pity his remaining supporters still can't see through the sham...!!!

Charles: There is a dumbing down of our children in schools...They aren't being 'taught', they're being 'brainwashed'...!!!

Yolanda: Parents, who are supposed to be the PRIMARY educators of our children, have relegated that duty to a school system that is in dire need of reform...!!!
