Sharp's at Waterford Farm, Brookeville, MD In my humble opinion Sharp's at Waterford Farm has one of the best pick-your-own pumpkin patches in the greater Silver Spring, MD area. Sharp's is located at 4003 Jennings Chapel Rd, Brookeville, MD 20833 - just a short drive from Silver Spring on either Georgia or New Hampshire Ave . Although Sharp's has a Brookeville address, it sits just north of the Howard County line.

Sharp's at Waterford Farm will be open from 10 am to 5 pm during their fall season which starts September 29 this year and runs through November 4th. Besides picking your own pumpkins - a free hayride to the patch is included - Sharp's also offers kids activities such as face painting, scarecrow making, a corn maze and mini maze and there are farm animals for the kids to feed.

Fall plants, corn, straw bales, gourds, jams, jellies, salsa, salad dressings, honey, apples, cider ... are available in the Sharp's Country Store - take a close look around when you visit, it's not only a store but also a mini farm museum!

The country store will also be open on weekdays from 10 - 4 pm, Oct. 4th - 31st.

P.S.: Sharp's is another family-owned business in the greater Silver Spring area - in operation since 1903.

Hi John, honestly, until a few days ago I wasn't in a autumn-state-of-mind either. Just this past week though, I suddenly noticed the first subtle change of color, a few leaves on the ground and that my mums are about to bloom!

Hi Nan, picking our own pumpkin and visiting a local farm is definitely one of our favorite fall activity. We typically go twice - once for the pumpkins and once to pick apples. Thank you.

Very nice, Andrea. My boys loved going to the pumpkin patch when they were little. They always wanted to pick out there own pumpkin (which they did), and then they wanted to carry it back to sales clerk (which they rarely did). It was always a fun Fall day out as a family.

Hi Mike, this sounds oddly familiar to me :-) The girls also love to pick out their own and attempt to pick it up .. daddy always has to come to the rescue though and will get some mini ones for them to carry.

Hi Mona, they do! Hubby is a pretty good pumpkin carver - and roasts the seeds for me. Yum! I saw some interesting ideas recently involving paint and accessories and we might just try it instead this year.

Hi Tammie, I do, too (except for the fact that it's followed by winter). We are still in the memory-making process (my girls are still little) but visiting the local farms to pick pumpkins and apples are our favorite fall activities.

I am a local too but have never heard of Sharps. We go to Butler's Orchard or Homestead Farms. I think I will take your advice and try something new this Halloween!

Andrea, I love those pumpkin patches, when we lived in Massachusetts, I got to see a real pumpkin field/patch but here in Florida, the closest we get would be a watermelon field.
