Do You Know Where You're Going??

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Metro Center Alexandria Licensed in DC, MD and VA

As I focus on the business at hand and the goals to come, I need to be clear about my Real Estate future and for the upcoming year.  How do I expand my business and keep the business coming?

There are so many ideas about SEO's and Cold Calling's and Leveraging amd Prospecting that you can truly get caught up chasing the next shiny object.  The question is, what will work for you?  How can you utilize all this information that keeps getting poured out to get you the results you are looking for.  Nobody can answer that question for you but you.

First you need to have a good presence on the internet and drive every bit of traffic you get right back to your website so people will know you're a qualified, knowledgeable, reliable agent.

Next, focus on a few things and learn how to use those few things to the best of your ability.  When we focus our efforts on too many things, we less results.  Statistics show that if you focus your efforts on 2-3 things and do those well, you'll get more results that if you focus on 6 or more things.  As noted earlier, we want to do everything we see and follow everything out there and we think if we don't do this or don't do that we may miss out on that very thing that would have gotten us to where we want to be.  It's that fear that drives us and we can't be lead by fear especially when we are trying to run our business.  Only by daily persistence doing the few things and doing them well will pay off in the long run.  Your business is not a sprint, it's a marathon!

Thirdly, above all.....Don't get discouraged.  Don't let people discourage you!  Don't let what you can't see today, discourage you from what you're trying to get accomplished in the future.  Yes, I'm preaching to the choir but this is so true.  We can't see things manifested now so we begin to think it will never ever happen for us.  Believe you me, if it can happen for others, it can happen for me.  Just use that as your affirmation..."IF THEY CAN DO IT, SO CAN I".

don't give up

Learn from those who are making it happen.  Don't reevent the wheel!  Get a few good ideas and I said a few GOOD IDEAS and keep working them and working them until you see results.  Don't give up because a lot of times right when we don't see the quick payoff, we stop.  Don't stop!  Keep going and keep moving and shaking!  It will pay off in the long run!

I agree, focus on one thing at a time. You may be a multi tasker but studies show that if you focus on one thing at a time, you have better results.

Great post Lisa! I'm subscribing. I so agree that every agent needs a website, and yet many do not. I talk to many agents who are either new or struggling and too many give me excuses why they can't afford their own site. I think they can't afford NOT to have it.

You are so right Lisa...focus on a few things and perform/implement them to the best of your ability.  When we try to do too many things at once the wheels start to spin.  Congrats on the feature!

Couldn't agree more on focusing on two or three things.  That is all it takes.  I see some agents who scatter their marketing, ending up with nothing.

good post!  Its god to bring ourselves back down to earth every once in a while so we don't pursue every shiny object out there.  I've found myself doing that with social media.  It's easy to get caught up in every new thing that we don't do any of them well.  so I'm concentrating on Facebook, Linked in and Google+.  I follow others on Twitter but don't participate very much.  I'll be starting my blogging shortly so that's enough on my plate.
