What Would Mr. Macy Do?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Estates On Line

Macy's didn't survive in the business by doing nothing when goods piled up on the shelf. What are  Realtors® doing about properties piling up?

Is it "business as usual" or what?

As a marketing consultant, all I see are Realtors® going about marketing the same ways as they have in the past. What would Mr. Macy do? If you had an altnative selling method, would you explore using it? Have you discovered any?

Just curious, and hopefully you will contribute your comment.

I just posted a comment on another blog where a realtor was asking for advice on marketing on a shoestring. That comment somewhat applies here. When business isn't "business as usual," you need to market in unusual methods too.

I've consistently told my clients that now is the time to pick up the pace on your marketing, when things are slow.  Come up with some unique or bizzare holidays, give them a real estate twist and go for it!  Here are a few that I suggested on another blog, although they were more for prospecting than actually selling listings:

  • Feb 15 - Singles Awareness Day
  • Feb 26 - Tell a Fairy Tale Day

Take a holiday and find a unique way to observe them while putting your information out there.  For example, for Singles Awareness Day, you could seminars around the city that bring home ownership awareness to singles.  For Tell a Fairy Tale Day, buy a bunch of fairy tale books in bulk off the internet and make appointments with area schools to come in and read to their pre-school or kindergarten classes.  Put your contact information on the backs or inside covers of all the books and hand them out to each child when you're done. They will take those books home and give them to their parents, who now have a new contact for real estate.

Just some thinking outside the box!
