Posting the hard way
from my cell phone.
no power here in Eltingville, Staten Island, but we are warm, dry and well fed.
we can cook on the gas stove, but we need to light the gas because the lighter is electric powered. We have "special guests" daughter, son-in-law, baby grandson and their three dogs.
we are in survival mode, eating what will spoil first, packing goodies in coolers with frozen meats and veggies on top to keep stuff cool. It seems to be working.
i'm charging my cell phone to my old laptop, battery is great, can't use it for anything else, no Internet service.
We are the lucky ones, some in low areas are underwater. I hope they took the warning and got out.
A tree fell on my neighbors car, I guess that will be common around town for a awhile now.
We didn't have a lot of rain, just wind.
OK, live report over, I hope we get our power back soon.
