Glenwood Hills, an Albuquerque Foothills Neighborhood

Glenwood Hills is my favorite Albuquerque Foothills Neighborhood because it's a neighborhood that combines three great features: beautiful views, great location and relative affordability.

Albuquerque Foothills Neighborhoods

Glenwood Hills is one of four Glenwood Hills Home in Autumnneighborhoods located east of Tramway Blvd in northeast Albuquerque. Each of the four foothills areas, Sandia Heights, High Desert, Glenwood Hills and Four Hills, have their own distinct look and feel, and each one features a different perspective of the Sandia Mountains and/or foothills.

Sandia Heights and High Desert to the north have stunning views of the mountains, more custom homes and luxury homes, and larger lot sizes too. They also have higher price tags to go with it.

Glenwood Hills and its neighbor across I40, Four Hills, are terrific foothills neighborhoods too, whose views center more on the actual foothills, and they are available at more affordable prices.

Glenwood Hills Homes

Many of the homes in Glenwood Hills were built in the 1970's, although there are newer homes located there as well including newer townhomes and condos like Glenwood Point and the  Tierra Amada Townhomes. There is a wide variety of architecture in the neighborhood as well, everything from beautifully built brick ranches to contemporary southwestern style homes.

Glenwood Hills Neighborhood

Glenwood Hills Street SceneGlenwood Hills has perhaps the best location of the four main foothills neighborhoods because not only do you get to enjoy the foothills views, but you also have an easier commute in and out of the neighborhood. There is much easier access to the major thoroughfares inlcuding Tramway, I40 and Montgomery Blvd. from Glenwood Hills than the other foothills neighborhoods. This is important and will affect your life on a daily basis. If you buy a home in Glenwood Hills, you'll most likely be using Tramway to get to work and possibly Interstate 40 too.

You'll also have somewhat easier access to Montgomery Blvd and some of the popular restaurants in the area.

Learn more about the neighborhood on the Glenwood Hills Neighborhood Association website.
