The Dallas Turkey Trot, sponsored by Capital One Bank and the the Dallas YMCA, is one of my favorite Dallas events. Family members of all ages gather in Downtown Dallas in front of City Hall Plaza to begin one of two races. There is an 8 mile run and a 5K run/walk. Participants can choose whether they want to run timed or untimed. It is fun to see parents, grandparents, children of all ages (some in strollers), and four legged furry runners participate in the 5K event. Those in the 5K move at their own pace. I love the enthusiasm as participants cheer when they run under Central Expressway and the echos can be heard for blocks. The Turkey Trot is also a great way to enjoy the architecture in downtown Dallas!Refreshments and activities are available near Dallas City Hall. Photographers are generally on hand to document your participation in the Turkey Trot! It's easy to see why this event has become the largest Turkey Trot in the United States, with over 25,000 participants!
Participants can register online, or at any Lukes Locker location beginning on Wednesday, November 14. Luke's Locker is a runner's paradise, with shoes, functional and stylish running clothes, and accessories.
