If someone blindfolded you and walked you into this store, you would know you were in a spice shop! I am fortunate to have a Penzey's store across the street from my office.Penzey's Spices sells individual spices and complex seasonings, with flavors imported from around the world. Shoppers can purchase .9 ounce of a spice or a 1 pound bag. In addition to spices, Penzey's carries ground chocolate from around the world. You can choose from milk chocolate to dark chocolate cocoa powder. The dark chocolate is my favorite.
Penzey's Spices is well know for their attractively packaged gift boxes. Shoppers can customize their selection of spices or choose a pre-packaged assortment of spices. One of my favorite gifts is the Baker's Half Dozen that includes Lemon Peel, Popy Seed, Pure Vanilla Extract, Cardamon, Cloves, Ceylon Cinnamon, China Cinnamon, Cocoa, and Ginger. They also have boxes for Salad Lovers, Grill and Broil, a Hot Chocolate gift set and more.
The Staff at Penzey's Spices is attentive and knowledgeable. When you visit be sure to sign up for their catalog. It is filled with Penzey family recipes and recipes that customers have shared with the Penzey Family. This month's recipes include, Amish Pot Roast, Cranberry Spinach Salad, Sole with Fennel, holiday cookie recipes, and more.
