Whole Foods Katy Texas Where are You?

There is a brand new strip shopping district right here in the Grand Lakes subdivision where we reside. I have written several blogs regarding Whole Foods opening a new store in Katy Texasas it will be the anchor facility in the Grand Lakes Marketplace Commercial Center.The initial blog was written on January 7 2012 about this center including back to when they announced that theproject was going to begin. The construction of the center began sometime during the spring and my memory is saying March.

I wrote another blog about Stein Mart store opening in the same strip center back in October as it opened officially opened sometime ( I believe) after October 15, 2012. At that point in time World market was telling everyone they would be open sometime around November 15, 2012 and they were close to meeting that commitment.

It is December 22, 2012 and I ask “Whole Foods Katy Texas Where are You”? This line goes back back to an old TV show where the standard opening was was “Car 54 Where are you”? I stopped today to go into both Stein Mart and World Market and both stores as you can imagine were very crowded with shoppers. I know Duh its less than 3 days until Christmas what would you expect to see but a large group of shoppers. What the status of the anchor store Whole Foods? Still showing the same worn out sign of “Coming Soon”.

Frankly, when Whole Foods finally shows its head the road traffic on Fry Road will become instantly unbearable. The traffic light everyone assumed was going in at the corner of center village Dr. and Fry road as I suspected is nowhere to be found as it is MIA so far.

My point of this blog is Whole foods are you folks asleep at the switch or what? Your executive team here in Houston or maybe elsewhere needs some new blood. Guess what? You missed the biggest shopping time of the year being the period before Christmas and through New Years.  I have worked for several large organizations during my career and i have seen on numerous occasions for far lesser screw ups than this a serious number of heads being rolled. I know you are going dazzle the whole world by opening just before the Super bowl! Right ? Well maybe not and when you open in mid to late February after the Super bowl many folks probably will not care  a whole lot.
