Wondering what to give Fluffy and Petey for Christmas? Another squeaky toy perhaps? How about something they will eat up literally? How about homemade biscuits? This is what they are begging for, easy to make dog biscuits.
Since we got our pups 4 Christmases ago this is an event they look forward to. I swear my dogs know by the smell that they are getting their delicious treats. You can make these any time of year but since baking starts at the onset of cold weather for me, this is my season to bake until the Spring thaw.
These are also appreciated by my doggy friends that get some as Christmas presents.
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups oats
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup powdered non-fat milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 large egg
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 275 degrees
Mix flour, oats, wheat germ, dry milk and garlic powder in a large bowl.
Blend the water, peanut butter and egg in a blender until smooth, then
add to the dry ingredients.
Roll the stiff dough into 1/2 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut into
desired shapes using cookie cutters that are about 3 inches long like
Christmas trees or fire hydrants.
Place on baking sheets and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Store in an air-tight container.
Makes about 3 dozen.
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to all Dog Lovers!
