Cox School House off old Burnet RD Lago Vista TX This one room building was moved to the Northshore Lake Travis located off Old Burnet Road in 1940 from Cox Springs near Sylvester Ford. In 1960 the last group of students who were in 1^st thru 11^th grades were moved to “the little red schoolhouse” on Lohman’s Ford Road and the name changed to Lago Vista School.

Terramesa, the North Shore Heritage & Cultural Society, and former students are currently working to move this building to a permanent location in Lago Vista and restoring the building so students today can see how students in Texas received their education from this little historical building.

The picture was taken January 25^th, 2012 with a warm 80 degree temperature here in Lago Vista Texas. Great Place to call home sweet home.

I like the fact that passed students are trying hard to keep their old school in tact. It is small so the graduating class must be really small! My cousins had a graduating class of 20 or less can't remember the actual number.

Hi Sussie, I guess back in those day's the weather was mild compared to our global warming, it was 80+ today here in Texas while Northern states are freezing, I guess Houston was warm also?

I am sad to hear that the effort to restore this historical one room school house has halted as funds have run out and there is no one to spearhead the project as those with the desire to do so are elderly now. Currently it is falling apart.
