"Bay Are home prices surging"

That's the headline for the front page story on yesterday's Business Report section of the San Francisco Chronicle. Zillow.com has made a projection fof 2013 prices in each of the 25 Bay Area zip codes. Their projections take into account historical and current home pricing data as well as data on employment, income and other factors.

For the San Franciso metropolitan area, which includes Marin County, they predict a 7.3% increase. One town in Marin that they call out for double-digit appreciation is Larkspur. The factors of supply and demand can be credited with recent and projected price increases, since, with the economy improving, there are more buyers, but limited supply with Bay Area homes listed on Zillow down 60% from a year ago. We are seeing this here with the retun of multiple offers and quick sales on reasonably priced properties.
