if you don't ask, they wont tell...

as most of us know, but rarely practice...if you don't ask for business, there is a good chance you won't get it.  It is a common sense lesson, but not utilized in my experieicne, as much as it should be.  Every peron you meet or have contact with you should ask a serie of questions including 1.Are you looking to buy or sel in the near future 2. Do you know anyone looking to buy or sell in th near future 3. When you hear of someone looking to buy or sell, give me a call (give card).  You dont need to b robotic about it, but these questions need to be worked into the conversation.

Chris, this is so true, if you do not take the time to ask, then why should someone take the time to tell you.  And your questions are very good and to the point.

If someone gives you business when you haven't asked, you have a good reputation, a great aura, super personal presence, or it's from sympathy.

Some of the sorriest people around do business from the sympathy angle, "I just tried to help him out, and..."
