Let Out Your Inner Child
An easy way to hide minor scratches is to rub crayons and sharpie pens. There are hundreds of colors to choose from and by combining the colors you can find a matching color to almost anything. You can also use wax sticks, such as Minwax Stain Markers, that are specifically for repairing wood floors and make it easy to match the stain of your floor.
Homemade Polish
Olive oil, vinegar in equal parts make an incredible team to remove dirt, moisturize, and add shine to wood. Cover the scratch in the mixture and let soak for at least 24 hours. Wipe clean and repeat until the scratch is gone!

Did your teenager decide to try ice skating on your wooden floor? No problem! With a little time and effort you won’t have to pay more than you have to when repairing your floor!
First you will need some fine-gauge steel wool or lightweight sandpaper. Stay away from the heavier stuff or you will just make things worse.
Next, Sand with the grain – never against.
Then use a wood filler rather than wood putty because it takes a stain better. Then level it off with a plastic putty knife and sand again. Once satisfactory then stain and seal.
Mind the Gap
Old floorboards can separate over time. Fill the gaps with similarly colored wood putty. Or, if you have some leftover planks, rip a narrow band and glue it into the gap.
