Each year Pantone, the official color experts in the world, meet to discuss what color they will promote. This year "Color of the year" is Emerald Green!! Pantone uses words like "Lively, Radiant, Lush. A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony." And why not? Green is associated with nature!! But not everyone agrees on one color. In fact, many other competing color camps will predict different colors for color of the year.
Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year: Lemon Sherbet. "An ideal transition color as we move from more vibrant spectrum and mid-to-deep tone hues that we've been experiencing in home furnishing and fashions."
Akzo Nobel. (World's largest paint and coating company) Color of the Year : Indigo Night. "Indigo is a visual band-aid to our hectic lives. A striking statement color associated with wisdom and honesty which enhances your environment."
These selections will dictate what we will see in home decor, clothing, accessories and even on runways!!
So what does that mean to you? Most homeowners will not redo their homes according to this trend!! And there is no reason for this. As a decorator, I tell my clients, you can simply update the look of your home by adding accent pieces, such as pillows, side chairs, area rugs, and even art. No matter what you decide, you will be seeing these colors for 2013!!
