Mardi Gras is commonly referred to as "Fat Tuesday". It marks the beginning of the Lent Season for Christians. It is celebrated in cities throughout the world. The Winter Solstice is past and the beauty of Spring is but weeks away.

Mardi Gras and Real Estate

Mardi Gras follows the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years doldrums.

It is the kick off time for the Spring market. The upcoming Spring break looms on calendars across the area. Families with children begin to think of making that move to a larger home.  The IRS tax deadline is just around the corner and most people have received their W-2's and see how much a bite Uncle Sam is taking out of their earnings. The tax advantages of owning a home are more clear during this season than any other. It is a great time to be a real estate agent. We are needed.

Mardi Gras is the kick off for real estate agents getting back to basics and working with their sphere of influence as well as new prospects. It is a time to set aside the media hype (good or bad) and realize that regardless of any market condition - people are buying and selling homes.

It is a great time to be a real estate agent.

John - I lived near Biloxi for 9 years.  Today I wore my purple/green/yellow beaded tie from New Orleans as a little tribute to Katrina victims.  I think I was the only person in Mesquite NV doing business with Mardi Gras beads on.  I was wearing a red suit, so the tie REALLY stood out.  Nobody said a thing!

Happy Mardi Gras!  -Virginia Hepp

Hi John, your post brings back childhood memories for me. When we studied about Mardi Gras in elementray school history, I remember the kids calling me "marti gras" for the next day or two. ;-)

I've never been to a Mardi Gras celebration but it's definitely on my to do list, have a great weekend...
