Hummingbirds Slow to Show

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage~ Ginger Harper Real Estate Team 93383

This spring has been a very slow season for our hummingbirds.  Usually we have them buzzing all around our back deck area.

Is anyone else having the same problem with their hummingbirds?

WE are using the same sugar mixture that we have used for years so successfully.....so I do not know what the problem is.

If you have any hints or ideas, please let me know.

Ginger  of Beaver Dam Creek.

Ginger - saw my first ones only two years ago. Thought at first they were over-sized bugs as they made fierce attempts at my hat brim. Haven't seen any this year yet ~ although we are still short of blossoms and flowers.

Ginger, Still a little early for us to see ours, but looking forward to their arrival.  We keep a feeder or two just outside our family room window and usually have about 3 hummingbirds that call our backyard area home.

Hi Ginger,

We have warmed up here in Southern California so I thought I would send you a visual hummer to cheer you up. just think, if they are late arriving, they will be late leaving too. Have a great spring.

I read where they are really exhausted so it was good to up the sugar content. I boil 2 cups water and put 1/2 cup of sugar. They really like the mixture and seems to keep them coming back.

A happy hummer for ginger

Hello Larry. Our yard is now filled with blooms from azaleas. These bright colors should bring them on home.

Hi Ginger.  Maybe the unusually cold March has slowed them down?  It seems like the spring flowers are a bit behind schedule as well.
