Last night I was ready to go home..I was tired, and my wife was expecting me for her Dad's 81st birthday party. If you haven't read it here before, I got sooo lucky when I got married, not only did I get the perfect woman for me, but she came with a super family that took me in like one of their own..I grew up without a Dad, this guy has been great!!
So its dark, and I am going to my car, and there is a van parked behind it. The hood is up, and a big guy is underneath untying a rope. I look around, and start to say maybe he should leave it hooked up and pull it forward a few more feet...I gotta go!!!
But, the door to the van opens, and a lady in the drivers seat looks like she is at her wits end. I did spend 14 years in the Auto Repair business, I offer to lend a hand for a minute. As a Realtor dealing in Foreclosure homes, a flashlight or two is a necessity. The husband now is up and I ask him if he would like to use my light.
We determine the fuel pump is not working, and I give him some advice on how to get the job done....Of course I then present my card, and low and behold, the husband is a hand man, licensed to boot, and the wife is the loan processor for a mortgage company here in town. We talk a bit more, and We then push the van up so I can get out. I need someone else for doing rehabb, and she is in the business too..What a nice way to find new friends!!
As I start heading home, I call my Wife. I tell her I found someone who was in trouble, and she said don't worry about is, her daddy was the same way, never was one to let someone sit on the side of the road that needed help. He would understand, and so did she....kinda....Then the question...."Did you get that nice blue shirt dirty??"
As it turn out, only my hands were dirty, there was a bit of a stain from the Wendy's chili that somehow got on the shirt, but thats normal...The party was nice, just a few of us, but thats what makes family special.
