There are so many fun things to do on the South Shore in the summer. The main thing is to relax. If you need a major theme park, the coast of New England isn't the place to be. If you want good old-fashioned fun in the sun -- and the mild summer weather -- with family and friends, this is the place to be. There are a lot of day trips you can do -- to the Cape, to Newport, R.I., to Boston, Salem, Rockport, Marblehead, New Hampshire. I could go on. But lazy days of summer means breaking out the grill and putting on something for the kids. For me, I'm fine with a Sea Breeze cocktail at 5 and a few lobsters over the course of the summer. Well, that and a few Red Sox games. (This looks like a very good year!)
The main tourist attractions here generally revolve around the Pilgrim history and the early settlements that founded our country, as we know it today. If you're visiting, there's just no excuse not to see Plimouth Plantation and the Mayflower reproduction in Plymouth Harbor, for example. Duxbury is almost as old as Plymouth. 1620, remember? Well, by 1637, Duxbury was also a town: the second in Massachusetts. Enjoy!
