Final approval is in! I am very happy and excited to announce a "Season Long Contest" in Baseball Talk 101. With us all geared up for a great 2008 in real estate, keep in mind that baseball's kickoff is fast approaching. Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow and away we go!

Countdown to Spring Training!

Now we all have our favorite teams that we have followed since childhood. Or maybe you just recently became interested in baseball (where have you been?) There is a saying in fantasy sports that loyalty to a team can be fatal. Either way, does your team have what it takes to go all the way to October? Are you that confident in your favorite? Would you prefer to bypass your favorite because "they are rebuilding" or "they are young"? Whatever the case might be, your picks, your choice! For those of you that may be new to baseball, I would suggest that you check out MLB Website! if you would like assistance! Click on the logo! Please let us know why you are selecting who your selecting, i.e. great pitching staff with such and such ERA, or led division in RBIs, that sort of thing.

To be eligible you must post your blog in Baseball Talk 101 and Fantasy Sports 101 in addition to any other groups you wish to post in! To be eligible, you must also tag your post with Season Long Baseball Talk 101 Contest in addition to any other tags you may choose.

This contest will start today February 12, 2008 and run until the world Series concludes.

There are NO judges for this contest only winning and loosing picks! ALL Active Rain members can enter! Entries must be posted prior to opening day of the regular season, March 25, 2008, Red Sox vs. A's at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan!

Here is the payoff for getting it right, NO POINTS JUST FOR ENTERING:

  • Anyone getting the World Series Winner picked correctly would recieve 750
  • Anyone choosing the AL & NL Winners would receive 500 points
  • Anyone Picking either the AL or NL Winners would Receive 250 points
  • Anyone picking a division winner will receive 150 points
  • Anyone picking all winners would receive 1500 points

Clarification: Question from Nicholas Goglucci, PA. Rich: Do you have to pick all five categories? Answer: Yes, you must pick all categories to be eligible.

Linda - I know it may seem a little daunting but give me a call if you need help, I don't have any advantage except being a fan, and/or you can click on the MLB logo and they give team info in the first drop down on the left hand side.

Rich, I confess I waited til someone posted their entry (thank you Nicholas) to make sure I had this right. I can't do any worse than my fantasy football picks.

02/13/2008 05:25 PM by Debbie Malone, Realtor (R), Lynchburg, Smith Mountain Lake, VA (RE/MAX 1st Olympic)

Debbie - Some picks may be a little more probable than others but everybody's got a shot.

PS I won our fantasy football league this year but unfortunately, that has no bearing on this one.

Rich and Danny:  I posted my picks, both in Fantasy baseball 101 and Baseball 101, I even followed the tags. I have noticed others have not, do they count or do they need to edit the posts?
