The Road to Long Beach/Signal Hill: Challenge Three
Moving Companies
Finally the day has arrived and we are moving to Long Beach/Signal Hill, California. The boxes were packed and stacked neatly awaiting transport.
The movers were expected to arrive at 8:00 am but the time came and went. Around 8:45 we received a call, the movers were lost. After clarifing our address they arrived and the arduous task of moving began. Strangely the lead mover had a rather surly tone as he spoke with us. (It was later I discovered he had two additional appointments scheduled for the same day.)
He had a goal of loading the truck as quickly as possible, (admirable I thought) but his tone grew brisk and abrupt when he questioned if anything else was to be loaded. I pointed out additional items, such as the patio table and chairs, as he harumphed with disgust.
Finally we were on the road (freeway) to Long Beach/Signal Hill.
To sum up our experience I will highly recommend hiring a good moving company. Sadly the company we used was rife with difficulties. Furniture was damaged, picture frames cracked and dirt was tracked onto the carpet of our new home. To add insult to injury, the movers would not unload the truck until payment in full was completed. My husband tells me this may not be unusual but the delivery left a lot to be desired.
Since the move I have completed additional research on professional moving companies.
Long Beach Movers/Meathead Movers - Student Athlete Movers. Quote from their website "Each meathead client receives the opportunity to publicly share their experience."
U-Pack Moving Company - quote from their website "With over 600 epinions.com reviews we rank 4.5 our of 5."
Top Moving Company 4 U - Recommend comparing and pre-screen moving companies.
More than the physical expertise moving companies are in the customer service business. Yelp reviews and client testimonies can attest to the professionalism, or lack, for individual moving companies.
