Social Media isn't ..... maybe?

Reblogger Barbara Hensley

Jeanne and Ralph present an overview of social media and the pros and cons.  Let's face it social media is here to stay and if used properly can result in business and referrals. There are those who stay on it for hours, even when out having dinner.  You should be careful what you post only posting tasteful things.  No drinks in hand or language you would not want the world to see.

You can make connections with people you would not have known before.

Phone and paper

We live in a whole different world filled with "social" media.  We use email, text messages, Facebook, twitter and other media to communicate.

We seldom make social phone calls or have face to face meetings.  Ralph and I are as guilty as anyone.  We frequently sit across from each other at a dining table with him working on his Ipad and me working on my Mini.

Whatever happened to conversation?  It went away so gradually I did not notice..  Talk about absorbed in our own little worlds!

Talk would be interesting!  We share everything 24/7, but we are ceasing to communicate.  How can it be?

It appears that the computers, iPads and other personal communication devices are so dominating our every waking minute that we are slipping into a less responsive society.

Social?  Not the skills I was taught!  Communication?  Well, it does keep us in touch with family friends and customers.  I guess that does qualify as communication and it is via media.  It is not as responsive as the old fashioned conversation and it feels a lot less personal.

It well could be that we are approaching a day when we will have to have a personal computer or equivalent to communicate at all.  Instead of talking with the person across the room we will just text.  Scary!

I have made thousands of social media connections and it can be quite enjoyable. Making connections that will generate real estate business is an elusive challenge.

I'm hoping that social media enhances my relationships instead of hinders them!  K

Hi Barbara,

Social media has come a long way.

How do you think I met you. (glad I did) I have connections from all over the world.

No way would I know about these connections if not through social media.

Thanks for sharing the post.

Have a great day in Rockwall.

Best, Clint McKie
